BBQ Shrimp, Bacon and Pineapple Skewers

So last week I asked Bryan what he wanted for dinner. He tells me "anything with pineapple". Seemed like a weird request to me lol. However I said okay, I'm up for the challenge. I am not a huge fan of fruit and savory foods mixed but I LOVE SHRIMP AND BACON with everything so I figured I would give it a try. It actually was pretty delicious. :)  I served it over brown rice.

BBQ Bacon Wrapped Lamb Chops and Roasted Red Potatoes

So as you can see I am new to this blogging thing. :) I have a bunch of pictures of dishes I have made lately but I don't have the recipes to post for you just yet. I kinda just make these things up as I go along so I will work on writing down the exact recipes, ingredients, and measurements.
I am not a huge fan of Lamb but I am working on being open to more things. Plus Bryan likes it :)
I decided to bake some of it and fry the rest. The baked was actually better than the fried. I also roasted some red potatoes with olive oil, garlic, onions, thyme, oregano, and other Italian seasonings. Very Yummy.

Dinner in DC @ Zengo's

Yesterday wasn't a cooking day for me. Bryan decided to take me out to dinner instead. We usually like to try restaurants we haven't tried before. We decided to visit Zengo's in DC http://www.richardsandoval.com/zengodc/. I had delicious Thai Chicken Empandas topped with finely diced mango for a appetizer and pan seared scallops with purple sweet potatoes for my entree. Bryan ordered pork spare ribs with spicy cucumbers for an appetizer and Beef braised with mashed potatoes. It was actually pretty delicious besides the scallops with purple sweet potatoes that I ordered lol. I actually wasn't aware  there was a such thing as purple sweet potatoes but I didn't really care for the dish. I guess my tastebuds didn't agree with it and neither did Bryan's lol.

Pan Seared Scallops with Purple Sweet Potatoes

Braised Beef and Cheese Mashed Potatoes

Over all it was a great experience. The Restaurant was very nice. The plates were about $25 for the entrees. I think next time I will be going back for Happy Hour for $5 small plates and drinks :)

After Dinner we went to Red Velvet Cupcakery http://www.redvelvetcupcakery.com/index.html and Tangy Sweet http://www.tangysweet.com/ for dessert. We decided to take our cupcakes home. I ordered a Southern Belle (Red Velvet) and Bryan ordered a Carrot Cake Cupcake. Both with Cream cheese frosting. I didn't get a chance to take any pictures of my delicious Pomegranate frozen yogurt topped with toasted coconut, toasted almonds, walnuts, pineapple and strawberries. I was too busy eating it :) Cupcakes and frozen yogurt are definitely two of my favorite desserts so I was in heaven :)
