Dinner in DC @ Zengo's

Yesterday wasn't a cooking day for me. Bryan decided to take me out to dinner instead. We usually like to try restaurants we haven't tried before. We decided to visit Zengo's in DC http://www.richardsandoval.com/zengodc/. I had delicious Thai Chicken Empandas topped with finely diced mango for a appetizer and pan seared scallops with purple sweet potatoes for my entree. Bryan ordered pork spare ribs with spicy cucumbers for an appetizer and Beef braised with mashed potatoes. It was actually pretty delicious besides the scallops with purple sweet potatoes that I ordered lol. I actually wasn't aware  there was a such thing as purple sweet potatoes but I didn't really care for the dish. I guess my tastebuds didn't agree with it and neither did Bryan's lol.

Braised Beef and Cheese Mashed Potatoes

Over all it was a great experience. The Restaurant was very nice. The plates were about $25 for the entrees. I think next time I will be going back for Happy Hour for $5 small plates and drinks :)

After Dinner we went to Red Velvet Cupcakery http://www.redvelvetcupcakery.com/index.html and Tangy Sweet http://www.tangysweet.com/ for dessert. We decided to take our cupcakes home. I ordered a Southern Belle (Red Velvet) and Bryan ordered a Carrot Cake Cupcake. Both with Cream cheese frosting. I didn't get a chance to take any pictures of my delicious Pomegranate frozen yogurt topped with toasted coconut, toasted almonds, walnuts, pineapple and strawberries. I was too busy eating it :) Cupcakes and frozen yogurt are definitely two of my favorite desserts so I was in heaven :)
